We, independent voters of
Colorado, call for a nonpartisan open primary system, often
called “Top Two”. 1.1 million voters are presently excluded from
the first and often decisive round of voting. Open primaries
will allow all voters the right to participate at all levels of
the political process. The ability to remain an independent and
fully participate in the candidate selection process is
important to us. We see the change to an open primary system as
a vital step in this direction.
Open primaries put power in the
hands of the voters, not the political parties and encourages
all voters to engage more fully in our democracy.
We urge our elected leaders to
join us in an effort to reform our democratic process and adopt
an open primary voting system for the voters of Colorado.
